PANDAS
PANDAS and PANS
PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections) AKA rapid onset of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is believed to effect 1 in 200 children.
Most people who develop OCD, often talk about glimpses of the condition throughout their lives which often intensifies after a pregnancy, drinking an excessive amount of caffeine, coffee and tea or trauma. But those with PANDAS can usually trace it back to a strep infection (up to 6 months previous) to the quick development of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Symptoms can include: OCD, Tics, Strep infection, and any PANS symptom
If the child has not had a strep infection for the last 6 months, before the onset of OCD, then of PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndromes) might be the diagnosis.
Symptoms can include: OCD, Depression, irritability, aggression, opposition, deteriorating school performance, sleep disturbances and incontinence.
I believe if the myelin (the nerve’s protective coating) was healthy and ample enough then the Strep bacteria could never penetrate it, and therefore cause the OCD. I have seen people stop reoccurring shingles (caused by a virus attacking the nerve) outbreak after working with the myelin. I suspect the same would be true with PANDAS.
EVERY single child with PANDAS, with whom I have worked, has a marking in the Iris of their eye which indicates a thin myelin.
I would personally work with the Strep infection herbally, add fermented foods, as well as building the myelin, if a child was diagnosed as having PANDAS.
